The Story of Láns
A Belief in Beautiful Beginnings
We’ve always believed that children should grow up surrounded by beautiful things—natural materials that spark curiosity and invite imagination. And we believe parents deserve beautiful things too—objects that bring a little joy, a little wonder, and sometimes a small return to childhood.
This is how we raised our own children, filling our home with wooden toys and storybooks that felt alive.
But when it came to puzzles, we noticed something: many felt flimsy, or a little too childish. We wanted something different—something beautiful enough to give as a gift and special enough to keep. So one day we thought… maybe we should just make our own.
Turning an Idea into Puzzles
Here in Weston, Massachusetts, we slowly turned that little idea into real puzzles.
We spent a lot of time experimenting with different papers, boards, and finishes until everything felt just right. Each puzzle is made from thick, 100% recycled ESKA board and designed, printed, hand-cut, and hand-boxed by us.
We wanted every piece to feel sturdy in your hands—something satisfying to hold, something beautiful enough to give and sturdy enough to last for years.
Our puzzles are double-sided—sometimes past & present, sometimes winter & summer—so there’s always another story waiting on the other side.
Celebrating Real Art and Artists
Every Láns puzzle begins with a real artist.
We love working with artists who capture the beauty of everyday life with warmth and imagination. Every illustration is created especially for Láns—no AI, no shortcuts.
When we make prototypes, we often invite children to try them first. Kids are the best puzzle critics we know.
The Meaning Behind the Name
“Láns” is a quiet tribute to our children—both of their names carry the letters LAN.
If you look closely, you’ll find a small girl with a crown and a boy with a cactus hidden in every puzzle. They’re little reminders of the imagination, joy, and love that started this whole adventure.
Made for Children—and for the Child in All of Us
Our puzzles are made locally, thoughtfully packaged, and built to last.
More than puzzles, we hope they become small keepsakes—thoughtful gifts that families return to again and again. Something to gather around at the table, something to bring out on a quiet afternoon, something that holds a memory.
And truly… this is only the beginning.
There are many more stories waiting to be made, one piece at a time.
